8-19-18 Fishing Report

The rain from yesterday morning did puff up the rivers and late yesterday afternoon Cannonsville reservoir started to spill.  That spill has increased slowly overnight as there is still quite a bit of water coming into the back side of the reservoir.  Currently up at Stilesville we have 2760 cfs and 73 degrees, 1500 release coming from the bottom and 1200 coming over the top.  We are getting that warmer temp up there due to the gauge being up towards the dam and the temps really drop as you go down river as the water mixes a bit.  Down at Hale Eddy we have 4590 cfs and 58 degrees with decent visibility, approximately 2-3' now, perfect for streamers.  The East Branch at Harvard is up to 6240 cfs and 71 degrees and down at Fishs' Eddy we have 9420 cfs and 68 degrees.  Lordville down on the mainstem is 15,800 cfs.  This week does look like the driest we've had in a few weeks so at least the West will shape up nicely and hopefully the East drops a few thousand and gives us that option too.  With the warmer water on the very upper section of the West we will have to see how that affects the bugs and down towards Hale Eddy your temps haven't changed much due to the spill.  Those with access to a boat or guide should have some good fishing this week, likely without many anglers on the water, put-off by the higher flows.  Those who do fish it a lot know how good the fishing can beat these levels.  We will keep you posted as things progress.  Lotsa' Luck
